The College of Brown University Admission Requirements:

  • Test Results: Brown’s SAT Composite Range is:1330-1540, while the ACT Composite Range is: 29-34
  • Essay Submissions: 500 word essay. Brown offers summer courses to assist applicants with the writing of application essays. See the following page: Essay Course

Other documents needed:

  • A completed application form: The Common Application is used for applicants to Brown.
  • Writing Supplement questions: These are part of the Common Application, see the following link for the
  • Request Recommenders: Applicants are asked official school officials and teachers to provide records and recommendations. It is suggested that applicants begin the process early, in order to give enough time to respond before the deadline.
  • Application Fee: $75 application or submit a fee waiver. If the fee will present a financial hardship for you and your family, you may be eligible for a waiver of the application fee. (Brown accepts the NACAC, College Board, and Expanding College Opportunities Fee Waiver request forms).
  • Standardized Test Results: Brown ask for the SAT Reasoning Test and any two SAT Subject Tests, or the ACT (with writing component).
  • Standardized Test Codes: Use the following codes to submit the standardized test results: SAT 3094. ACT 3800
  • Early Decision: Results should be submitted directly to Brown before November 1st.
  • Guidance Counsellor(s) Requirement: Complete high school transcripts from every secondary school you have attended should be sent to the admissions office online, through Docufide, Naviance or the Common Application.
  • Midyear school report: The report will include the ultimate grades for fall courses, in addition to a list of the applicants spring courses. These can be submitted online through the Common Application.
